Copa de Malaysia BJJ Competition 2

Hello guys & gals,

Jan 9 held the Copa de Malaysia BJJ Competition at Jaya Mall. It was a 2 days event of Gi and No Gi. More info at their FB of course.

I decided to take part representing my club PJ Jiujitsu Club. I was in the over 65kg masters white belt, whilst my man Rifhan was in under 65kg white belt, of course cornered by my coach Janson Lee. And not to mention my wife too for being there.

Sadly i didn't manage to get any medals, but it was a fun and exciting experience none the less. Would recommend anyone to try, but patient and mental preparation is very vital besides the extra hard training.

For me, I had less than 2 months to train and all my coaches and club mates really helped me and pushed me a lot. Below my 2 matches, won my first match by arm bar (was told the points scored was 26-0, i was shocked too). Lost in 2nd match, but it was a mistake and experience i will remember all my life.

Lesson I learned. When inside lock down, my opponent sweep me and i was struggling to get under hook. First i should have let go of the cross face and balance with my left hand, and secure a over hook with my right and keep pressure and balance.

Remember, when sweeping with X-guard, don't let them hold any of your sleeves! NEVER! Cause the danger is pulling you into a triangle/arm bar.

Really wished i fought longer, well it is what it is. Kudos to him!

All in all it was a great event, and maybe i hope to go at it again. Cheers and hope to see you soon.
